The fifth annual meeting of the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience will be held on October 24th, 2026 at the STEM center on the campus of University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. The meeting will have research poster sessions, Nanosymposiums (Submissions welcome) Career Building Workshop (Science Communication and Social Media), a keynote speaker (Accepting submissions from Early Career Scientists), Lightning Talk competition and lunch.
The Annual Neuroscience Conference gives undergraduates, graduate, and postdoctoral fellows the chance to present research findings in a poster session, attend lectures and special panels, and meet other students and faculty interested in the neurosciences.
Exciting New Keynote Address
This year the UMC would like to highlight aa Early Career Scientists (defined as PhD candidate, Postdoc Fellow, or Assistant professor with less than 6 years at the position) for our Keynote Speaker. We will be accepting nominations or self-submissions for the Keynote Address. Please email hillhout@uwgb.edu with your talk title, abstract, and CV by Sept 18th, 2026. Notifications will be made by Oct 1st. Submissions not selected for the Keynote address will be considered for nanosymposiums (but authors are not required to give a nanosymposium).
We will be accepting posters, nanosymposiums, and lightning presentations (5 min oral presentation contest). Poster presentations can be submitted for completed or in-progress research projects. Additionally, we are welcoming presentations that were presented at or will be presented at national meetings (e.g. Society for Neuroscience, ASPET, etc).

Are you interested in attending graduate school? Do you want a better idea of what to expect, how to pay for, and how to get admitted into graduate school? If so, this panel is for you! This graduate panel will have graduate school directors, faculty members, and current graduate students. We will discuss the dos and donts of the application process as well as life as a graduate student. Lastly, we will take questions from the audience (bring questions)!
Career Building Workshop - Science Communication and Social Media
This interactive panel and mini-workshop equips neuroscientists with practical, low-time-commitment science communication strategies to share their work clearly, ethically, and effectively with the public.
