Annual Conference Information 2025

General Information

The forth annual meeting of the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience will take place on in October 25th, 2025 at the Dreyfus University Center on the campus of University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The meeting will have research poster sessions, Nanosymposiums (Submissions welcome) Career Building Workshop (Science Communication and Social Media), a keynote speaker, and lunch. 

The Annual Neuroscience Conference gives undergraduates, graduate, and postdoctoral fellows the chance to present research findings in a poster session, attend lectures and special panels, and meet other students and faculty interested in the neurosciences. 

We will be accepting posters, nanosymposiums, and lightning presentations (5 min oral presentation contest). Poster presentations can be submitted for completed or in-progress research projects. Additionally, we are welcoming presentations that were presented at national meetings (e.g. Society for Neuroscience, ASPET, etc).

Abstract Submission Deadline: Friday, September 26th, 2025

11:30 - 12:15 pm: Graduate School Admission Workshop

Are you interested in attending graduate school? Do you want a better idea of what to expect, how to pay for, and how to get admitted into graduate school? If so, this panel is for you! This graduate panel will have graduate school directors, faculty members, and current graduate students. We will discuss the dos and donts of the application process as well as life as a graduate student. Lastly, we will take questions from the audience (bring questions)!

           Career Building Workshop - Science Communication and Social Media

This interactive panel and mini-workshop equips neuroscientists with practical, low-time-commitment science communication strategies to share their work clearly, ethically, and effectively with the public. Speakers will showcase approaches including podcast guesting, social media content, short-form video collaborations, writing, and community events--always with a focus on accuracy, accessibility, and impact. Attendees will leave with a personal “starter plan,” templates, and resources to immediately apply these skills, amplify their reach, and counter misinformation in neuroscience outreach.
